Rasam can be made in two ways - with rasam powder and without rasam powder. You can replace my rasam powder with store bought rasam powder too. This can be made with few variations too, which I always do. Hot rasam, hot rice plus ghee - heavenly combination.

Steps to make Rasam:
  1. Wash and clean the mango. Peel the skin off of it and cut the mangoes
  2. Take a cooker,add mango pieces,chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and little water and cook it. If required add green chilli.
  3. Grind grated coconut and squeeze the coconut milk out of it.
  4. Take a mixi jar and add boiled mango and grind it.
  5. Add the grinded mixture, coconut milk, jaggery and if required salt.Boil it.
  6. Prepare tampering mustard, asafetida, jeera, red chilli, curry leaves with coconut oil or ghee.
  7. Add the tampering to the boiling rasam and rasam is ready.serve with rice.
