For the rasam: Heat oil in a deep pan and add the cumin seeds, hing, green chillies, garlic, ginger and curry leaves and fry until raw smell of garlic is gone. This is my basic South Indian style rasam recipe which I learnt from my Aachi in Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu. I make this rasam almost everyday without using homemade or store bought rasam powder and dal water. Instead I make it with freshly ground rasam powder.

- Make puree of Tomatoes and beetroot.
- Add oil in a vessel and add rai jeera methi dana and hing. Once they splatter add the tomato puree.
- Add red chilli powder, garlic, curry leaves, coriander leaves,black pepper, salt and cook on low flame once you get a boil.
- Mix all the above ingredients and make a medium dough.
- With the help of little water by applying on hands make small wada of donut shapes and deep fry them till golden brown in colour.
- For assembling we need shot glasses. Pour the Rasam into the glasses and with a tooth pik inserted in the wada place them on the glasses top.
