  1. Get 1 cup soaked basmati rice
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup grated coconut
  3. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon salt

  6. Prepare 1/3 cup Tuar Dal (split pigeon peas)
  7. Take 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder

My mom-in-law & my mom have collected huge number of recipes(shown in Kannada Channels & from Kannada magazines). This is a regular & popular dosa which is a favourite in every house hold in south india & also the easiest-to-make. I want to share this simple breakfast. This dosa is served with chutney and sambar.

Instructions to make Plain dosa:
  1. For this easy breakfast/brunch recipe, grind rice and coconut to a very fine paste then add 5 cups water and 1/2 tsp of salt.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan and pour a ladle full of batter and spread it evenly. - Lower the heat and cover pan for 1/2 a minute or so.Then dribble a few drops of oil around the dosa.
  3. Once it is brown and crisp, serve it with sambar or chutney.
  4. Prepare Tamarind Juice – soak 1/2 tablespoon tamarind in 3-tablespoons of hot water for 10-15 minutes, mash it with a spoon and strain it using a sieve and discard the solids.
  5. Add toor dal, turmeric powder and 1 cup water in 3-4 liters capacity steel or aluminum pressure cooker. Add mixed vegetables in a small container, place it inside the pressure cooker and close the cooker lid. Pressure cook over medium flame for 3-4 whistles. For this recipe we used 1/4 cup potato, 1/4 cup brinjal, 1/4 cup carrot and 1/4 cup French beans as mixed vegetables
  6. Add oil in pan at low flame add sambhar masala and add vegitable 4 to 5 min fried and messed and mixed in dal all material mixed and trun off till forthy ittake 5 min and trun off dalne samber is ready.

A variety dosa with sago in the batter with rice and urad dal also to make a nice crispy dosa. Plain dosa is usually softer in the center and crisper at the outer edge.
