Our dum aloo recipe is also called Punjabi dum aloo. Chilli-coated potatoes in dum aloo curry are cooked with cream, tomatoes and a flavourful paste of whole spices and onions. Dum Aloo or Aloo Dum, a rich and special dish in Kashmiri Cuisine and also in Punjabi Cuisine. The baby potatoes are first deep fried, then cooked slowly at low flame in a gravy with spices.

  1. Boil the baby potatoes
  2. Take oil in a pan and heat it.
  3. When heated add dried red chilli, bay leaf, jeera.
  4. Then add the boiled potatoes in the oil and fry it.
  5. Add capsicum,coriander,tomato and graded ginger and fry them with the potatoes.
  6. Then add some water to it.
  7. Add coriander powder, jeera powder, hing, amchur powder and mirch powder to it.
  8. Fry them all for 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Add some water as you need for the gravy.
  10. Cover it and let it simmer for 15 mins.
