Drain the water completely from the dal with a colander. If any water is remaining the vada will break apart. You can use an absorbent paper for this. In a mixer, grind the dal into a paste.

  1. Drain water from the dal and pulse in mixer for a couple of times till you get a coarse mixture.
  2. Add in all the chopped items as well as salt, chilli and hing powders and mix well.
  3. Shape into patties or balls and deep fry in hot oil till crisp.
  4. In case you feel the mixture is a bit liquid and cannot shape into patties, add a bit of rice flour to it.
