The ingredients needed to make Baalbekia:
  1. Get 500 g minced meat
  2. Take 2 large tomatoes - diced
  3. Prepare 1 large onion - diced
  4. Get 1 tbsp red pepper paste
  5. Make ready 1 teaspoon chili (optional)
  6. Get 1 tsp 7 spices
  7. Get 1.25 tsp salt
  8. Prepare 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  9. Get 500 g flour
  10. Prepare 250 ml warm water
  11. Take 1 tsp yeast
  12. Make ready 1 tsp sugar
  13. Make ready 1/4 tsp salt
  14. Make ready 40 ml olive oil
Steps to make Baalbekia:
  1. In a large bowl, add the meat, onions, tomatoes, peppers, spices and 1 tbs salt. Mix all the ingredients together. Transfer to a colander, place a bowl underneath to get rid of any excess water, then place in the fridge until ready to use
  2. Next to prepare the dough, add flour and oil in a mixer. Dissolve the yeast with water and sugar, then add to the flour and knead
  3. Add salt and continue kneading until you get a soft dough
  4. Put the dough in a bowl and cover. Allow the dough to rest for approximately 1 hour or until it has doubled in size
  5. Spread the dough into a 1/2 cm thickness. Cut small circles, using a dough cutter or any round shape
  6. Each circle is stuffed with an appropriate amount of meat stuffing and formed according to desire
  7. Place the stuffed dough onto a greased oven baking tray, leave space in between the dough so as they don’t stick together while baking
  8. Leave the stuffed dough to rest for 10 minutes before baking
  9. Bake stuffed dough in the oven at 180°c for 18-20 minutes or until cooked and golden
  10. Serve as desired next to yougurt and salad.
