Custard Cake resembles a chiffon cake with a topping of sweetened milk and egg mixture known as custard. At first glance, this could be mistaken as a giant Leche Flan because the topping resembles. If you think custard as thick as the cake is over-the-top, you're wrong. That is the perfect custard cake according to my husband.

Steps to make Custard Cake:
  1. In a large mixing bowl take ½ cup oil and 1 cup sugar.
  2. Beat smooth and fluffy till the oil and sugar combine well.
  3. Now add 1 cup milk, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp vanilla extract to the above and mix well.
  4. Sieve the maida, atta, custard powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix well using cut & fold method or an electric kitchen aid.
  6. Transfer the cake batter into the round cake mould and bake at 180 degree celsius for 40 minutes.
  7. Now spread a generous amount of jam mixture (strawberry) over cake and level out forming a frosting. OPTIONAL STEP
  8. Finally, serve custard cake immediately, or store in a refrigerator for a week
