- Take 1/2 teaspoon Toban Djan (Chilli Bean Sauce) *OR Chilli Flakes as required
- Make ready 1/2 Spring Onion *finely chopped
- Get 1/2 Tomato *diced
When it comes to a rolling boil, add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Is Capellini the same as angel hair or thin spaghetti? While similar, angel hair is actually thinner than capellini. Capellini is also thinner than thin spaghetti.
Instructions to make Capellini & Pork With Spicy Tomato Sauce:
- To make the sauce, combine all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
- Pork slices are the thiner, the better. I often pound the slices with a meat mallet to make them even thinner. Lightly season with Salt & Pepper, and coat with Potato Starch Flour. The starch layer will become jelly-like and add a lovely texture. - *Note: You can omit the starch.
- Cook Capellini (Angel Hair Pasta) as instructed. When Capellini are almost cooked, add Pork slices and cook until the colour has changed. It won’t take long at all. Drain and rinse under cold water if you like it cold. Drain well.
- Place Capellini and Pork in a serving bowl, cover with the sauce and enjoy immediately.
Either would make a fine substitute. Tips: Seasoning the pasta water with salt is very important. As the pasta absorbs the water, when boiling, it will flavor the pasta internally. Drain the pasta, reserving some of the pasta water. As evidenced by the steaming noodle pile above, we have been and still are using DeLallo noodles - spaghetti, penne, fettuccine, and now capellini - to dive into when we get hungry for pasta.
